Night Bosses – Elden Ring: Nightreign

At the end of each day in Elden Ring: Nightreign, you will face off against a single, powerful foe that guards the night to try to prevent you from entering the next day. These enemies, many of which will be familiar to players of the original Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series, are more powerful than they’ve ever been. Night Bosses are tough, having been re-balanced for co-op (including the addition of new moves for many), and can present quite a challenge at the end of each day.

Thankfully, we’ve made this guide to help you face off against these Night Bosses, and to help you know what exactly you’ll get for doing so.

Night Bosses are the final bosses you face at the end of each day of your Expedition in Elden Ring: Nightreign. Once the Night Rain circle has closed in enough, it will stop shrinking and a group of enemies will spawn. These enemies can sometimes be trouble themselves, but more importantly, they let you know what Night Boss you will be fighting, as each Night Boss is “introduced by” different enemies.

After defeating these enemies, the Night Boss themselves will arrive. There are two tiers of Night Bosses, depending on what day they show up. Night Bosses that show up at the end of Day One tend to be easier, whereas Night Bosses on Day Two can be some of the toughest opponents in the game (second only to Night Lords).

What Night Bosses can spawn will depend on your chosen Expedition, with each Expedition having its own pool of possible bosses for each night.

It should be noted that if you get downed against Night Bosses, while your “bleed out” timer will not tick down, you will lose the run if all of the players are downed at any point (see our guide on reviving allies for more details).

While Night Bosses on both days have Dormant Powers that will contain 3x Purple+ Upgrades that will substantially improve your character, Night Bosses on the 2nd day do drop far more Runes — usually enough to ensure you’ve levelled up properly before the Night Lord.

In addition to the loot you receive, the Night (and therefor your Expedition) will not progress until the Night Boss is defeated. After defeating the first day’s Night Boss, you will have around 30 seconds before the next day begins and the shifting locations around the map change. After defeating the second day’s Night Boss, you will be able to teleport to the Night Lord arena for Day 3.

It is important to note that playing Single Player will reward you will 50% extra runes from every enemy, including bosses.

Below is the full list of every Night Boss in Elden Ring: Nightreign, the amount of Runes they drop, which Expedition they can show up in, and what enemy type “introduces” them.
