Merchants – Elden Ring: Nightreign

Elden Ring: Nightreign sees Merchants return, but they work a bit differently than they have in the past, adjusted for the streamlined multiplayer experience. In this guide, we will go over what types of Merchants are in Nightreign, where to find them, and what you can purchase from them.

Just as it goes with many other destinations on Nightreign’s maps, most of the Merchant locations are going to be random each run. Check around the settlements and on the rooftops — you are looking for spectral figures sitting on the floor.

One of the possible locations for the shops is at the Main Encampment, where they appear in the form of spectral anvils.

It’s worth noting that all of the merchants in the open world share the same inventory, per day. In other words, all of these items are refreshed each Day, but stay the same between merchants.

The one exception to this is Merchants that you find in Townships (check our Locations guide for those), which will have a much larger inventory than the rest of the Merchants you can find. For example, they are pretty much guaranteed to have a Stonesword Key in their stock.

One exception to the randomized location rule is the Merchant you will encounter on Day 3, after you use the portal to go to the Spirit Shelter, and just outside the door leading to the Nightlord (across from the Site of Grace).

This makes sure you always have a chance to make any last-minute purchases using your leftover Runes before heading over to the main boss.

Expedition Merchants primarily sell consumable items of all rarities, and the specific items that they sell will be random every Day. It will cost Runes to buy every item that they sell, so you will have to choose between buying items or holding onto your Runes to level your characters.

It’s also important to know that the items you purchase do not carry over between runs, so you only need to worry about whether the items will help you at the moment, not if you can use them in another future run.

There is a special Merchant in the Roundtable Hold called the Small Jar Bazaar. Unlike the ones you find during expeditions, this one will sell emotes, appearances for your characters, and even Relics and Relic Rites.

The currency that this Merchant accepts is different as well — you will need to spend Murk instead of Runes, which are earned at the end of each run. Purchases made at the Small Jar Bazaar are permanent, unlike the regular merchants.

I'm a huge gamer who especially loves the Final Fantasy series. I will play just about any game, especially if it has anything resembling a Dragoon.
