Ironeye First Remembrance Walkthrough – Elden Ring: Nightreign

Ironeye’s first Remembrance mission is a fight against self, in that classic Spider-Man Pointing at Spider-Man way. In this guide we will go over how to unlock this quest, and the best approaches to completing it.

First Remembrance Rewards:

  • Ironeye’s Chalice (Red, Green, Universal — see our guide on Unlocking New Rites)
  • Yellow Slot Relic: Cracked Sealing Wax (Extends duration of weak point, Critical Hits Earn Runes)

In case you don’t know what Remembrance Quests are — as you go through the expeditions, you’ll keep unlocking journal chapters revealing bits of backstory for your Nightfarers. After you’ve unlocked enough journal chapters for a particular Nightfarer (which you can check back at the Roundtable Hold), you’ll be able to begin a Remembrance mission – a personal quest that digs deeper into that Nightfarer’s lore and unlocks a special Relic that modifies their skills.

For Ironeye, the progression will be as follows:

  • Chapters 1-3: Run Expeditions, and defeat Nightlords to progress.
  • Chapter 4: First Remembrance Quest. Beat Night Huntsman during an expedition and deliver the Traitor’s Letter to the Priestess at the Roundtable Hold.
    • Rewards: Ironeye’s Chalice, Relic — Cracked Sealing Wax
  • Chapter 5: Run Expeditions, defeat 4 unique Nightlords to progress.
  • Chapter 6: Second Remembrance Quest. Beat Darkdrift Knight to collect the Edge of Order.
    • Rewards: Relic — Edge of Order
  • Chapter 7: Final Remembrance Quest. Beat Night Aspect and then pick Clench Dagger at the end.
    • Rewards: Ironeye’s Remembrance Skin
  • Chapter 8: Unlocked after finishing Final Remembrance Quest.

Now, let’s get into the First Remembrance Quest!

  • Interact with the 4th page of Ironeye’s journal
  • Talk to the Priestess until she gives you a personal objective
  • Start an expedition with a personal objective

You’ll be able to start your first remembrance mission after collecting 4 journal chapters for Ironeye. To do so, simply keep going on expeditions with Guardian. You will generally get the 4th page after defeating your first or second Nightlord.

When you have the 4th chapter unlocked, head to the journal in the Roundtable Hold (you can go to the map and fast-travel to it). Open Ironeye’s section and navigate to the 4th page. There, you’ll see a big Begin Remembrance button. Activate it to relive the memory fragment.

When you do, you’ll be placed in a foggy version of the Roundtable Hold. You can still do everything there like you normally would, but the NPCs will be in different spots and have new dialogues. As you spawn in the memory fragment, open your map and find the yellow exclamation mark/the Priestess — talk to her and exhaust her lines (talk to her “About the Fellowship” and “About the traitor”) until you see the option to “Accept task”.

You will learn a bit more about the Ironeye’s past life as an assassin-for-hire, but also that there is a traitor amidst those summoned to the Roundtable. You will learn that those who have given up and abandoned their duties become the Condemned, and there are versions of you from other worlds among them — you need to locate one of them and defeat them.

This objective is something you will need to complete during an expedition, so check your Relics and head for the round table to commence an expedition. (We recommend you do so in Multiplayer mode — read the next section for details.)

  • Navigate to the orange marker on your map (check the left side of the map)
  • Defeat the Night Huntsman (an Ironeye invader opponent)
  • Finish the expedition – it doesn’t matter if you succeed or fail

When you interact with the round table to start an expedition, you’ll see your personal objective listed to the right of the Nightlord description. For Ironeye’s first quest, you will need to defeat the Night Huntsman who is… yourself (that is, he is a higher-level Ironeye invader).

For some Nightfarers, like the Guardian, their first personal boss is pretty soloable, but the Night Huntsman is an agile opponent with quick ranged attacks. The objective is right on the outer edge of the map, so you can put 2+2 here together. Unless you plan on solo-ing that run to Day 2, the best you are going to have is a level 3-4 low HP Ironeye, going against an agile Invader-type Enemy with ranged attacks. I mean, by all means — go for it. It’s a fun challenge, but we recommend that you do this one in Multiplayer mode to ensure you get it on the first try.

You will find the destination as an orange circular icon, in the outer reaches of the map, on the very left.

Doing it with other players is not as awkward as you think — ping that location as soon as you land, or after the first destination, and the group will know you need to drop by your personal quest. They will get quite a few runes out of that, and it’s likely going to be a breeze of a boss fight in a group even on low level: the “dark” Ironeye is surprisingly stagger-able. Reminds you how low your defense is as a class… Anyway!

When the Night Huntsman is defeated, you will get the Traitor’s Letter item. This completes you quest. You don’t actually need to win the expedition to receive your reward — you’ll get the Traitor’s Letter as a reward either way.

When you finish your expedition with the Traitor’s Letter in your pocket, you’ll appear in the foggy Roundtable Hold again, as you will still be reliving your remembrance. Make your way to the Priestess and “Show her the Traitor’s Letter”.

To actually conclude a remembrance, you will need to interact with a small glowing vortex that has appeared in the Roundtable Hold. In this case, you’ll actually find it by the rocks in a corner right next to the Priestess. If you need to, you can open your map and see it as a wispy grey Grace. Interacting with the vortex will conclude the Remembrance.

Here it is, if you get a little lost — there is a bit of a fog in your eyes, after all

When you complete the remembrance, you’ll unlock the 5th chapter of Ironeye’s journal and get a Cracked Sealing Wax as a Relic, as well as Ironeye’s Chalice.

The Relic is a Yellow Slot and comes with two effects:

  • [Ironeye] Extends duration of weak point
  • Critical Hits Earn Runes

If you have a good habit of using Marking, this will be a fantastic addition. But, don’t feel too guilty if you ignore this Relic because you have something better in your Yellow Slot — you only have one of these on your Urn and Goblet (if you bought one), so it’s a bit of a competition. (Personally, I had two Attack Boost effects and a starting item Bag on my Yellow Relic, which are all fantastic for my playstyle.)

You can equip any Relic color into your universal slot

The Ironeye’s Chalice will come with a Red, Green, and a Universal slot — the Universal slot is something all Nightfarer Chalices get, which we discuss in our Unlocking New Rites guide. Ironeye is one of the lucky characters to get it pretty early on, so you can start playing with an interesting build for it right away.
