Wandering around Limveld, you will find all kinds of deadly bosses, waiting for their next challenge. In order to make the most of the limited time you have before facing the Night Lord boss, you will need to make sure you get enough runes to level up quickly and enough gear to take on the challenge, and one of the best ways to do this is by tackling Field Bosses that you come across in the world.
But, not all Field Bosses are made the same, and so we made this guide to help you know what field bosses are out there, and to decide which are worth your effort to defeat!
What Are Field Bosses in Elden Ring: Nightreign
Field Bosses are tough, single-enemy bosses that can be found around Limveld. They are distinct from other boss types because they are neither tied to Locations nor to the end of days (unlike Night Bosses). Instead, they simply patrol a small region until you come across them.
When you are close to a field boss, a marker for them will appear on your map. You should be able to find them by heading toward the marker, but beware: they will attack as soon as they see you.
There are two tiers of Field Bosses, roughly corresponding to the effort it takes to defeat them. Generally, tougher bosses both award more Runes, and are more likely to drop PurpleDormant Powers — which are stronger than the Blue versions dropped by weaker Field Bosses. See our list below in order to see which Field Bosses drop which, and how much effort they will take to defeat.
You can tell when a field boss is Tier-2 because the their icon on the map will have a red outline. The location of all Tier-2 Field Bosses are revealed after defeating the first day’s Night Lord.
Field Boss Rewards
All field bosses drop an amount of Runes between 15000 and 45000 , loosely corresponding to their difficulty. In addition, all Field Bosses drop Dormant Powers that contain 2 Armaments and 1 Upgrade. Whether those drops are Blue+ or Purple+ depends on their Tier, with bosses worth 30000 and above dropping Purple+, and those worth less dropping Blue+Dormant Powers.
When Should You Fight Field Bosses?
Field Bosses are excellent to fight, but it rarely makes sense to go out of your way to challenge them. Instead, you should take them on if they are along the route you are already taking. Once you’ve noticed a Field Boss is along that route, you should see what it is.
On Day 1, any Trivial or Easy Effort boss is usually worth taking on, as you could use the loot and runes. On Day 2, however, the more important factors are the amount of Runes you will get and if the boss drops Purple+Dormant Powers, in which case it is often worth the Effort.
List of All Field Bosses in Elden Ring: Nightreign
Below is the list of all Field Bosses in the game. In addition to noting the Runes and Dormant Powers they drop, we’ve also made note of the “Effort” it takes to defeat them; this estimation should give you an idea of how difficult they are as a boss and of roughly how long it will take to defeat them, relative to other Bosses. Even a very skilled, high level party might take a while to defeat a Hard boss, while a Trivial boss should be a pushover even for relatively new players early on.
There are 4 levels of Effort: Trivial, Easy, Medium, and Hard.
