How to Hide the League of Legends Client’s “Challenges Are Here” Notification: You Can’t

If you’re here, you already know what we’re talking about, and we’re sorry. For many players, every time they log onto League of Legends, they’re greeted with a garishly yellow pop-up telling them that “Challenges Are Here”. It’s been going on for months, and yet there’s been no official word from Riot on if or when a fix is coming. This is clearly a common issue, given the numerous Reddit threads from players asking for help (see here, here, and here); some players have even tweeted at Riot about the problem, with no response.

To be fair, it’s not like Riot is a billion-dollar company owned by the largest video game company in the world, so it’s understandable that they can’t afford to spend valuable time fixing a fairly minor issue. Still, it’s annoying as heck, and there doesn’t seem to be any clear way to stop the notification from popping up every time you log in. Strangely, not everyone on our staff has the pop-up appear on launch — one writer had it appear consistently, one staff member had it show up only sometimes, and one of the writers didn’t have it at all.

We did some testing here at EIP and were unable to find a solution. Despite going through every menu and clicking on everything in the Challenges section of the Profile page, the notification continued to show up for most staff the next time they logged in. Significant resources were put into researching the problem (read: 10 minutes on Google), and it appears no one online has yet found a way to solve the problem.
