Invasions – Elden Ring: Nightreign

While going through your Expeditions in Elden Ring: Nightreign, there is always a chance that you will be invaded by one of several dangerous enemies. Some of these are NPC invaders that will use abilities similar to your own, while others are unique encounters that can drastically alter the course of your expedition.

With this guide, we are going to give you details on every invasion, let you know when to watch out for them, and what your rewards for defeating them will be.

Invasions in Elden Ring: Nightreign are random events that can take place during either of the first two days in any Expedition. They have about a one-in-five chance of appearing during any given Expedition, and can drastically reshape the run. While they can be challenging to deal with, requiring you to either immediately tackle a threat or to work around more difficult enemies, they are also very rewarding, and can majorly increase your odds against the Night Lord at the end of the night.

There are two primary types of invasions in Elden Ring: Nightreign: Boss Invasions and Nightfarer Invasions. Boss Invasions will, at a random point during the run, impact all Nightfarers present. They will need to then deal with an obstacle, usually a boss, in order to end the Invasion, which will also reward them with a special Power and additional runes.

Nightfarer Invasions, meanwhile, are a type of special event that are confined to specific locations, which you will see marked on your map. By going to these locations, you will find that all enemies (including the boss) will be much stronger, and you will be invaded by one or more NPC Nightfarers, who you can defeat for extra Dormant Powers and Runes.

Boss Invasions will happen at random after you have unlocked them, though in our testing they only seem to appear around one-in-five Expeditions. The Boss Invasions will be unlocked after the first time you have completed (but not necessarily defeated) an Expedition with the associated name.

Nightfarer Invasions always happen beneath cataclysm clouds that circle above certain locations, which you can see on your map. These can happen any time after your first Expedition, but the invasion will only take place while you are within the cataclysm. Similar to the Boss Invasions, there seems to be about a one-in-five chance of a cataclysm appearing on any given expedition.
