Cydonian Games stands out when it comes to the amount of detail they have put into each of the crew members cards, and the amount of weapons and time they put into making sure there is a never-ending journey that awaits you and your crew. While the graphics and sound don't stand out too much in Voidship, there is still a list of features and gameplay factors that take place in this indie game. For the low price of $13.99, this indie game has excellent replayability and loads of hours for you to explore the galaxies around you.
Voidship: The Long Journey is a 2D top-down space combat/strategy indie game developed by Cydonian Games. In the game Voidship, you’re the Captain of a small starting crew that goes around different galaxies to discover new lifeforms and to gather resources and find new crew members to join you on your journey. Your job is to lead your growing spacecraft crew and build up your spacecraft to travel farther through galaxies to discover new things and to get a chance to witness all the work that Cydonian Games has put into their game Voidship: The Long Journey.
Like any game developers dream, Cydonian Games was upfront with what they wanted Voidship: The Long Journey to become. Your job is to lead a small crew and unlock the vast amount of weapons and new areas around different galaxies and fight off waves of other spacecraft to gather their resources to customize your spacecraft better to grow bigger and gain more crew members and get more knowledge for more crew members. While your job is quite simple in this game, the end of your journey will be whenever you decide to retire and hang up your captain’s jacket to embark on your next adventure.
Gameplay
While Voidship: The Long Journey doesn’t stand out too much when it comes to “A New Indie Space Game,” the developers over at Cydonian Games still bring a list of game features that put other space games in the genre firmly in their place. With randomly generated maps while going through different galaxies, Voidship has no end in sight when it comes to gameplay. With a massive list of weapons and various crew members to unlock, you’re able to grow your spacecraft in all different directions when it comes to exploring new things.
After collecting resources during your journeys around and taking down any foes that come before you, you’re able to spend those resources on weapons such as cannons, turrets, launchers, and systems to defend and conquer your foes and to make your journey through the galaxies a walk in the park.
Graphics
While the graphics don’t stand out too much in Voidship: The Long Journey being a 2D game as it is, the randomly generated maps bring you a new look each time to get a unique feel and look on each of your journeys. While there isn’t a whole lot of detail in the game’s backgrounds going from galaxy to galaxy, Voidship still catches your attention when it comes to gameplay and an overall good time with all the little things.
