Overwatch Halloween Terror Review

Halloween is now a little over two weeks away and as you may imagine all of the Halloween content is starting to slowly dribble out like a weird oozy thing from one of Igor’s jars. Overwatch, the hugely popular FPS released by Blizzard Entertainment is giving it a really good go, with their Halloween Terror Update. This includes a new PvE challenge called Junkenstein’s Revenge, some new skins, sprays, and poses all wrapped up in some new bouncy pumpkin loot boxes. I’ve taken the content for a spin, and gone up against Dr Junkenstein and his creations. This is what I think.

The main bulk of the new Overwatch Halloween Terror is the first PvE match to hit Overwatch. You and three other players go up against the mad Dr Junkenstein, his elite forces and a whole load of zombie robots called Zomnics that are hell-bent in escaping. The challenge has three levels of difficulty easy, medium and hard, and as the difficulty increases the damage you can sustain and health of the enemies increases, as does the prospective points of the match.

You only have four heroes to choose from, Soldier 76, Ana, Hanzo and McCree and there can’t be any duplicates.

Once the match starts, zomnics will start coming from various doorways. Some will start moving forward attempting to get to the large door behind you. If they get there, they’ll explode and deal damage to the door. Others will stay back and throw a sort of blueish energy at you that hurts.

In the early stages of the match these are all you have to worry about, and they are very easily taken down. As the match goes on, you’re attacked by Dr Junkensteins various elite heroes. First a pumpkin headed Reaper, then a Frankenstein Roadhog called Junkenstein’s Monster, Pumpkin attacks again then Witch Mercy makes an appearance and resses Junkenstein’s Monster. All of these have to be taken down before they either kill you or distract you from the zomnics attacking the door.

Towards the end of the challenge Dr Junkenstein turns up and throws grenades around from a high ledge. If you can take him out then you’ve won, if the door is breached then you’ve lost.

For the duration of the Halloween Terror Event you can win Halloween Loot-boxes instead of the usual boxes. These new lootboxes include a whole load of new poses, and sprays. More importantly they may contain one or more of the Halloween skins, and they all look pretty damn sexy. Watch the video below to check out them all.
