At last, after months of waiting, Jump Force has finally been released. For those who do not really know what Jump Force is, here’s an explanation. So, Jump Force is a fighting game based on the characters from various manga series featured in Shueisha’s Weekly ShÅnen Jump. In the celebration of its 50th anniversary, they decided to make a game for Shonen Jump magazine’s fans.
Jump Force is a Manga series’ character crossover fighting game, developed by Spike Chunsoft Co., Ltd (a Japanese video game development and localization company specializing in role-playing video game and visual novels) and published by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment on 15 February 2019.
Jump Force has 46 in-game characters but there are only 42 playable character in game at the moment. 40 characters from 16 different anime series and 2 original character from Jump Force itself which are the villain bosses (Galena and Kane) The four non-playable character are The Director (Clover), Navigator, Light Yagami and Ryuk from Death Note.
Firstly, I am so hyped about this game as many of us are. So I pre-ordered the deluxe version of Jump Force. The last week of waiting before the game officially released was kind of painful, especially on 12 February 2019 when ultimate version players got to play the game first. Phew!
Keyboard settings
Once you enter the game, as a PC player, it is really difficult to control because Jump Force is mainly made for consoles. So, all the console based button commands seemingly bind randomly to the buttons on your keyboard.
Basically, I went through a trial and errors approach in the tutorial because I couldn’t change the keybinding during the time. After I finished the tutorial, I could enter the home screen, press “Tab” and press “K”. Then, I was able to change the controls. Of course, if you have a pc compatible joypad, this issue goes away.

DLC Roster Leak News
In my case, the reason that I bought this game was because I really wanted to play with all 40 characters in the game roster. But is it worth the investment? I would say yes especially for the DLC characters.
I am kind of disappointed because this game only has 4 female characters at the moment, including Boa Hancock from One Piece, Rukia Kuchiki from Bleach, Kaguya Otsutsuki from Naruto Shippuden and Galena from Jump Force original roster.
Avatar Customization
Other than the difference in number of male/female characters, the game is awesome. You can customize your very own avatar with different set of skills and ultimate skills. Plus, you can make your character look hjust how you want them to with a wide variety of options available in the shop.
The skills animation of the characters is so amazingly cool and up to the standard I would expect from anime
For Goku, Vegeta and Freeza, you can either transform twice to achieve final form or wait until the awaken bar and power have maxxed and awaken them that way.
Team Awaken
During the battle, you can call for help from your team. After charging the Awaken bar and Power bar until, you can perform your Team Awaken skill. This will allow your whole team to awaken, and all three avatars use their skills and fight at the same time. Your Team Awaken Skill can be performed in the middle of battle which means as long as you successfully punch your opponent once, you are still able to us it.
Online / Offline Mode
There are two ways of playing Jump Force, you can choose to play it online or offline. The different between them is when online can play with other online players in Rank and Quick Play modes. When offline you can play against the A.I.
For me, I actually prefer playing Jump Force offline because sometimes the mission counter has too many players . This means that sometimes you can’t interact with the avatar at the counter stopping yiu from entering the mission.
Missions
Speaking of missions. Missions in Jump Force are classified into 4 different categories. Free Mission (farming mission for gold and elements to level skills), Extra Mission (mission get unlocked when you finish normal mission), key mission (story mode, needed to unlock the 2 original characters) and Tutorial Mission (basic tutorials of the game). Missions have 5 different difficulty levels easy, normal, hard, very hard and expert.
Shop/Upgrade
The shop is the place where you can buy different outfits, accessories, items, skills, J-skills (player’s character buffs) and passive skills for your own avatar. Upgrade is the place for you to upgrade your skills and J-skills.
Is it worth it ?
Let’s be real, is this game worth the price? In my opinion, if you want to buy the game solely because you want to try out the story mission, I strongly advise against it. The story is too simple and the final boss of the story looks lame and weak, and almost as if a 3 years old child had designed the boss.
I suggest you buy the normal version of Jump Force first. Check which DLC. is suitable for you and then purchase it. Feel free to check online, it is available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
