Wizard King CCG Indie Shout Out

Are you a keen fan of collectible card games but find the actual card part a complete pain? Maybe you’re fatally allergic to virtual cardboard, or maybe your family was murdered by vicious card merchants when you were young leaving you scarred and traumatised towards cards. Well, whatever reason you have Wizard King, developed by Maru Games might be the Collectible Card Game for you.

Already on Steam for the low price of £4, Wizard King works and functions like any other CCG but instead of using cards you summon the creatures themselves. Your deck, rather than mere representations of the monsters, and spells are actually the monsters and spells themselves. Each turn you generate more mana allowing you to summon larger monsters and cast more powerful spells.

You can summon five monsters and they stand in a sort of 5 long bus queue. Melee characters can only attack in position 1, archers can attack in positions 2 and 3. Nobody can attack in positions 4 and 5 so it’s a good place for your healers.

When you defeat a stage you’re rewarded with more cards to include within your deck. You can only take 30 with you, so make sure you’re taking the cards that best fit your situation.

Right, um what else?

Well many collectible card games allow you to dictate when your turn is over. Well not Wizard King. The turns tick through completely independently to what you do. The turns will always tick by, you’ll always generate more mana and more importantly your enemies will keep on attacking you, whether you want them to or not.

If you need more reasons to give this a look, well each game comes complete with over 220 cards to collect and there’s a massive 160 different stages to fight your way through, across the 40 stages.
