The developers of the sequel to the classic vampire RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 have revealed your starting clan, known as a Thinbloods. Complete with both the background and disciplines, read on for more information on the considered second-class of vampires clans.
In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 you begin as a Thinblood, a vampire with weaker skills and abilities and are often looked down upon by the full-blooded clans. As you progress through the story, you are able to join with one of the other clans, but this is not about them.
So, Thinbloods are a more recent, weaker strain of vampire,
constantly struggling to survive in the world. Although, a lot of Vampires wouldn’t
give them the time of day, Seattle has been almost welcoming to them. The
Camerilla has only just taken control of Seattle, so it remains a place where Thinbloods
can find their way into the higher echelons of society, though they are rarely
treated the same as their ancient brethren.
At the beginning of the game there are three different
disciplines to choose from, Chiropteran, Mentalism and Nebulation.
Chiropteran is the connection towards the vampires leathery winged cousins, the bats. The first active power reduces the vampires’ weight so that they have a limited ability to float, to either access other areas or drop down on their enemies (or victims). The second active power is controlling bats, either as a vicious swarm or a shield to attack any that come close.
Mentalism is the ability to use their minds to telekinetically move objects. The first active power allows you to manipulate objects, even NPC weapons with your mind. The second active power gives you an almost Jedi like power to pick up and suspend an NCP in mid-air, at full strength you can hurl all objects in a room.
Nebulation is the ability to summon and control mist. The first active power gives you personal mist shield, that will muffle your steps and reduce the distance you can be seen. The second active power creates a misty vortex on a target, that blinds and enters the NPC lungs.
Just like the Thinbloods, the remaining vampire clans each have their own unique abilities, and upgrades, so it looks like there’s going to be plenty of different ways to experience the vampire infested Seattle.
