Quite often Horror
games, follow a fairly scripted approach. So, the dogs jumping through the
window in Resident Evil are going to be less scary each time you play, until it
gets to the point were it’s completely expected. Horror of Song, a horror game
developed by Raiser Games and Protocol Games, won’t suffer from this due to the
AI built within the game itself. An AI that changes its tactics based on your
actions within the game. Due for release in September 2019, it’s looking like
something to keep an eye on.
After a spate of disappearances
related to the house of the famous writer Mr. Husher, a group of people decide
to investigate and try to uncover the spooky goings on. Like Scooby Doo but
terrifying.
The supernatural evil
of the house is known simply as the presence. A powerful entity, that reacts to
your character’s actions within the game.
There are several
playable characters within the game, each with their own pros and cons, and
different perspective on the case, and understanding of what’s going on. Depending
on how you play, any of these characters can die. Though the game doesn’t end
there, you simply choose the next character to play, and they continue on from
their predecessor’s investigation, with the case being shaped by their actions.
Song of Horror Features
Investigate a
paranormal mystery in a thrilling story of psychological terror
Beware the
Presence, an eldritch entity with its own AI that reacts to your actions and
decisions in a non-scripted horror experience
Choose between a group
of unique characters: each character brings its own point of view and has a
different relation to the story and other characters
You may die, but
the horror continues: death is permanent – when a character dies, it’s gone”¦
”¦but the next one
will follow the investigation from where the deceased left it: the world will
be shaped by their previous actions
Explore haunted,
sinister locations to gather clues and items that will help you solve
challenging puzzles while enduring the agonizing tension of the game’s
atmosphere
Raiser Games and Protocol
games have been working on Song of Horror for around five years, making sure
that they have balanced the investigation, puzzle-solving and story elements perfectly.
Taking their narrative direction from such masters of the genre as Edgar Allan
Poe, M.R. James or H.P. Lovecraft, they’ve created a game that even the developers
are still just that little bit scared of.
Song of Horrors is due for Release during September 2019 on Steam PC. Stay tuned to TheZombieChimp for more information, or head over to the official Song of Horror Steam Page.
