It is so important to be working hard, playing hard, and keeping updated with all of the comings and goings in the industry. So keep playing, keep enjoying it, and then you can go from there.
Start a Gaming Blog
If you are looking to get into gaming or are really keen for a job where you write about games or run a gaming community, then one of the best ways to get into that will be through getting started doing just that; a gaming blog. You simply have to just start and then you can go from there. If you get found online and people are interested in what you are writing about, then you can simply go from there and the following will rise, and then hopefully, the connections will be built up.
Internship at a Video Game Studio
If you are serious about getting into gaming for a career, then it is such a good idea to be able to get to know people in the industry, as well as get some experience working in that industry. You might have a skill such as art, sound design, or programming, that could prove useful in the industry. You may even be able to get a job at a game studio even if you’ve never built an actual game. But importantly, looking for internships can be a good way to go. Whether paid or unpaid, it can be something that is really beneficial, and will look good on your resume, and will give you some contacts for the future. Gaming Related College Degree
If you are thinking about getting into gaming, then you might not really think that there are specific degrees that you can do at college that will help. But in actual fact, there are some things that you can be doing at college that could stand you in good stead for the future to get into gaming. You could choose something like design, graphics, and so on, as these are the kind of thing that could help you to get into the industry after graduation.
Be Persistent
One thing that you should make sure that you do, is no not give up in your dream to get into gaming. Persistence is something that you should aim for, and aim to keep going and to keep going to get to where you want to be. And as they say, most things that are worth doing in life, need to be done well. Being able to develop your skills and learning the industry, in order to get a job in the gaming industry, isn’t something that is going to be easy. You might find things a struggle, and you can find that you get discouraged. Of course, it doesn’t feel good to have your job application turned down. But it is important to remember that you do have to fail before you can succeed. All rejection can bring you another step closer to your dream and getting the job that you want.
