Sometimes in the modern gaming world of big budget MMO‘s like World of Warcraft, Eve Online, and Elder Scrolls Online it can be easy to forget just how loyal players can be to other MMO’s; MMO’s that have run nearly as long, with an equally impressive fan-base, and those games plough on delivering great content to its players month after month, year after year. MMO’s like PoxNora.
PoxNora, an MMO that blends a turn-based strategy game with a collectible care game and wraps it all up in a little fantasy bow. You build your deck or battle-group from the 1600 (yes 1600) available cards or runes, and then go forth and kick some fantastical arse.
The purpose of the game is to destroy the enemy shrine. Each turn you generate nora (magic) which you can use to play your runes. Some runes generate fighters, others are spells. Once a fighter is on the field you can move them around, using energy. It’s a simple game-play system that focuses on using the different runes, and play styles rather than overwhelmingly beautiful graphics.
PoxNora began its life in 2006 and since then there have been 24 expansions, each bringing in new runes to the game. The latest expansion to the land of is called Ronin and brings with it a whole host of features, including…
60 runes (Cards that represent champions, spells and equipment)
40 abilities (Special behaviors, powers, and effects that champions have)
More than 50 champions
Themes and updates to existing ones, including yeti, witches and Cyclops
If you want to join to add to the already burgeoning 20 million online sessions, then you can get to the site from this link here, or you can head straight to Steam and get it from there.
