Police Chase Race Review

Police Chase Race is an Indie app from Boombit Games. Now, over the past few months, I’ve tried to dive into as many indie games as I can, basically because I am hoarder of a great many things and secondly because there are so many Indie games hiding nuggets of genius out there that it would be a shame if I missed something awesome.

It’s difficult to put Police Chase Race into a genre, it’s an avoid-em-up or maybe a third-person-dodger, I’m not sure. Police Chase Race shows a top down view of chase between a police car and presumably someone of the criminal persuasion. It’s your job as a part of the criminal underclass to not get caught by the police car behind you. So as long as you can avoid the many obstacles in your path such as hay bales, barrels, cars etc. you should be fine. To do this all you need to do is keep your eye on the front car and push on the screen to move your car towards the left, when you stop pushing on the screen the car return to the centre of the screen again. Incidentally the police car also moves to the right, but it’s your car you need to keep focused on, at least I believe so.

Anyway, this push and release system is the entire control system of the game, as long as you don’t get too distracted by the police car behind you, it’s easy to get into a rhythm. Despite this, after half an hour of playing I had not managed to climb high on the score table. In fact I think my heady height of rank 173 means that I need a little more practice before I start bragging about my elite skills.

So yeah, there’s a scoreboard you get added to that resets every so often, and if unlike me you can make into single digit ranking it will be up there for everyone to see.

It’s an easy to game to pick up, completely playable by anyone that has at least one extending digit. However, mastering it is a little trickier.
