New Overwatch Hero Ana Amari Announced

So, no sooner had I written this rumour piece about how the new sniper support hero in Blizzards Overwatch would be a character named Sombra, and all the hidden messages dotted around here and there, when Blizzard only go and announce the real new hero, Ana Amari a few hours later. So I was pretty much wrong on all accounts. Well, I guess the part about the Egyptian sharpshooter called Ana Amari, the mother of Overwatch character, Pharah was correct.

So, Ana to give you a very brief backstory is one of the founding members of Overwatch. What? You want more? Well, there is this origins video which will help to fill you in.

More importantly though, Ana is a sniper healer and she comes with a pretty cool array of skills.

She has her biotic sniper rifle and biotic grenades which heal allies and damage enemies. So being able to both heal and damage at great distances is pretty cool, right? She has Sleep Darts which are fairly self-explanatory. Her special skill is Nano Boost which gives an ally increased speed, damage and damage resistance.

Ana will be the only character so far to be able to heal at distance, which opens up the game to a whole new dynamic not really explored before.

Blizzard have not given us an official release date for Ana Amari’s first appearance in Overwatch but I like many Overwatch players are interested to discover how her appearance will change the game.
