Jedi Survivor Reveal Trailer at the Game Awards

Jedi Survivor, the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 Star Wars hit Jedi: Fallen Order, finally got a gameplay-rich reveal trailer at the Game Awards. That first game in the series was universally acclaimed for it’s combat, storytelling, and expansion of the Star Wars world, and the brief gameplay shown in this trailer indicates that the developers are hoping to follow suit with their upcoming sequel. And, I’ve got to say: it looks promising.

The trailer showcases the familiar face of Cal Kestis, protagonist of the last game, as he carves his way through stormtroopers and android (Separatist and Imperial) alike. But not everything in the trailer is old hat; instead, the 2-minute trailer showcased some new features, like dual wielding lightsaber, flight via a bird-like creature, and some sort of targeting system. All of these new mechanics were being used against a wide variety of foes, including wampas, Clone-Wars-Era Separatist droids, and some apparent bosses that look quite a lot like bounty hunters.

And gameplay wasn’t the only interesting thing the trailer has to show off, as the trailer had plenty to show as far as story is concerned, like a trip back to the Clone Wars and many new faces (friend and enemy alike). Personally, I can’t wait to see more.

As someone who is eager to see more of Cal Kestis’s story and play more lightsaber hack-and-slashes, this gameplay trailer is exactly what I wanted to see. It seems like a good reassurance that the Star Wars spinoff series will be a continuation and evolution from the first game when it releases on March 17th of next year.

But what do you think? Is the gameplay looking to be everything you’re hoping it will be, or is there something nagging at you about it? Anything you wish you’d see? Let us know, so that we can have something to keep us occupied while we anxiously await its release!
