Helldivers 2 Weekly Report (2/8 to 2/16) – The Second Galactic War Begins

WAR!

After a century of peace and democratic expansion, the galaxy will once again be thrust into a war to defend freedom, maintain liberty, and grow managed democracy.

To the east, the insect-like Terminids crawl from their nests in droves, killing those in their way, and they must be purged, pushed back from their barrier planets and into the quarantine sectors, where they will be forever sealed away. To the west, the metallic Automatons, dread machines of destruction, seek to destroy our way of life, and must be dismantled.

And in between both of them and the good citizens of Super Earth stands the Helldivers, ready to charge forth from their peacekeeping duties in order to once again defend democracy! A 2nd Galactic War has begun. The only question is, will you fight for democracy, or will you let freedom die with you?

Seen the Galactic War Reports below for a daily summary of the progress of the war between its start on February 8th and February 16th:

War has begun! With Terminid bugs to the East and Automaton bots to the West, the Helldivers have finally mustered from their police duties in order to once again serve as Super Earth’s stalwart protectors! The first week of the war have gone well, as the incredible Helldiver garrisons have already swept the enemy away with their overwhelming might and preparedness.

Super Earth expects this war to end swiftly and decisively, with no major defeats, but warns citizens to prepare for underhanded tactics by our unscrupulous foes.

Produced in dark and oppressive factories, the Automatons now march on freedom and managed democracy! This robot rebellion — apparently done at the behest of the cyborgs on Cyberstan — must be squashed immediately. The Automatons now pour out of the Severin Sector, and it is the duty of the Helldivers and other Super Earth forces to press in quickly and smash them.

They’ve already begun attempted invasions of the neighboring Xzar Sector, which also must be repelled. The robot menace cannot win. Save Xzar. Destroy Severin. The clankers deserve destruction, the people under them liberation.

For too long, we have allowed the pestilent swarm of insectoids known as the Terminids to inhabit the barrier planets, where they have wrecked havoc and denied the spread of democracy with their vicious pincers and animalistic brutality. But no longer! Starting now, we will push them out of every Sector in the Super Earth sphere and, eventually, contain them in the quarantine zone.

We have already taken back Heeth and Angel’s Venture in the Orion Sector, saving millions from the evil bugs. Now, it is just a matter of clearing what remains: first Umlaut, then beyond. Super Earth looks forward to a bug-free galaxy.

The following updates were released during this week:

In this new build, we’ve managed to improve the matchmaking success rate further, but unfortunately, it’s not all the way there yet. The full solution might take additional days of work before it’s fully functional. By the way, we have noticed that it works best if you join an active game by searching on planets rather than triggering Quickplay.

In this build, we’ve also addressed three other crashes. Please refer to the patch notes for more info on that. Additionally, Sagar had mentioned earlier that we hoped to send you a PlayStation patch today, but it’s proving to take a little longer than expected.

  • Server Capacity and log in access:
  • We have eased the authentication request overall.
  • We have improved error message visibility and added a countdown timer to clearly show when a new attempt will be made.
  • Progression and mission reward not being granted:
  • We fixed the daily and difficulty progression error
  • Based on the testing we have done we believe we have fixed future mission rewards but will continue to monitor this closely as it is our top priority
  • To compensate for lost rewards, we are working on an increased reward event
  • Fixed crash when application was closed shortly after start
  • Game no longer crashes during extraction cutscene.
  • User profile with too many friends no longer causes crash.
  • Fixed crash when using text-to-speech during extraction cutscene
  • Game no longer crashes when users disconnect during the joining cutscene.
  • Operation Status in Mission Summary no longer causes crash.
  • Fixed crashes caused by leftover visual effects from disconnected players.
  • Game no longer crashes when using ADS.
  • Repaired instability in game data packing that caused increased patch sizes.
  • Improved backend connectivity, reduces likelihood of disconnecting in missions.
  • Improved matchmaking experience and likelihood of success.

Defend Events – updated content for major orders

Playfab optimization
Playfab environment optimized – All lobbies now have proper data to run more effective matchmaking
Filtering optimization
We are optimizing the filter system when players are searching for lobbies, so that it excludes already full lobbies.
Stability and crashes
We have fixed three of our top crashes in the game, including particle renderer crashes and ragdoll crashes.
Fixed an issue where the application prioritized integrated graphics over some GPU in laptops.
Defend Events and Major Orders.
For readability purposes, we added a visual progression indicator to major order defend events

We have to let the bots and bugs know: WE ARE READY FOR WAR! Our valiant Helldivers will eliminate the enemies. For freedom, for prosperity, for Super Earth!
