Heavy Gear Assault brings Mech PvP

If there’s anyone out there who doesn’t know what a mech is, think of a giant bipedal robot with large amounts of weaponry. Think ED-209 from Robocop, or at a pinch those human-operated robot things continuously firing at all the probes bursting through the roof of Zion in Matrix Revolutions. (Assuming that you didn’t just get up and turn the movie off as a lot of other people did.)

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, mechs. Well I’ve been told about a new game from Stompy Bot Productions called Heavy Gear Assault that is a multi-player game all about mechs and more importantly mechs kicking seven shades of sump oil out of each other.

Set in a futuristic gladiatorial world, Heavy Gear Assault is all about mechs slugging it out with other players for sport, rather like mixing Robot Wars and Death Race together. (What is it with me and all those rather-dated pop-culture references?) Fame and glory awaits the winners while a smoldering wreck and one hell of an insurance bill awaits the losers. Win a few fights and use your well-earned cash by investing in new gear, weapons and custom paint jobs.
