A product listing on Sony’s PlayStation Store leaked details about Ubisoft’s upcoming Far Cry 6. The leak, which came via a screenshot of the Hong Kong version of the service, shows Breaking Bad‘s Giancarlo Esposito as dictator Anton Castillo, the game’s main antagonist. The leak also shows another piece of very important information for Far Cry fans everywhere – the game’s scheduled release date of February 18th, 2021.
Not all fans were trilled with the unexpected announcement, however, and many were displeased with the game’s cover art, and similarities to previous installments in the series. Others heckled Ubisoft’s security measures and speculated that the leak was intentional. Nevertheless, excitement dominated the conversation as fans were overjoyed at information about the newest game in the hit series and Esposito’s role in it.
Six hours after the leak it was seemingly confirmed by Far Cry’s official social media team, which tweeted a video of Esposito’s character. Though many fans were still upset about the leak, many more applauded the company for tackling the leak head on by revealing new information and were ecstatic.
