Far Cry 5 – Five Things To Be Excited About

With the announcement of Far Cry 5, there has been a lot of buzz around this latest from Ubisoft. Set in the pleasant and ironically named Hope County, Montana this is where a new story is about to unfold. So far, it is not entirely certain how different this one will be to its predecessors. But, there are definitely some things that have caught our eye. From the vast change in scenery to the array of vehicles on offer, here are 5 things to be excited about in Far Cry 5.

1. Eccentric, Overzealous Villain

This is by no means a new feature for the Far Cry franchise. Over the years we have seen a multitude of quirky villains each with their own unique way of being crazy. And this time is no different. Residing in Hope County amidst the calming countryside, is the cult known as The Project at Eden’s Gate. Their leader: Joseph Seed, father to his flock. And, of course, he is completely bonkers. But what else do you expect from a guy who clearly has a god complex. One of Far Cry’s greatest achievements is making villains we love to hate. So, here’s hoping this one will be just as great.

2. Choose your mode of transport

Already from the initial trailers, it looks like Far Cry 5 is going to be getting a lot more travel options. From cars to helicopters to planes. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few boats thrown in either. The franchise has, of course, had plenty of vehicles in the past. But, now we’re getting proper flying machines. If this is a definite feature in the final game, it’s will make a lot of people happy.

3. Welcome to America!

Okay, so maybe not so exciting considering the vast array of other more exotic locations we’ve seen before. However, it is not necessarily a bad thing that Far Cry 5 is set in Montana. It is a change of pace for the series and I’m hoping it will it make it a more rounded experience. Instead of playing in the jungles of some island you’ve never heard of, this will make it feel more down to earth. In a good way. I’m also hoping it will be quite an expansive area to explore considering we have more interesting mods of transport now.

4. Customise Yourself

Alongside the customisation options for your vehicles and weapons, you will also get to customise yourself. That’s right. You are no longer playing as some predetermined character, you play as you. In Far Cry 5, you aren’t anyone specific. The main character is a deputy sheriff who arrives in Hope County only to see it be violently taken over by the previously mentioned cult. This is a first for the Far Cry series and definitely gets two thumbs up from me.

5. Play with a friend

Yes, this game is single player. But, should you decide you would like to explore the mountains with a friend or have some company as you play through the main campaign, you now can. In another first for the series, entire main story can be played cooperatively. Other Far Cry games have tried put in co-op in some form but not to this extent. So, if you ever wanted to play with a buddy, well now you can.
