Fallout 76 NPC update Delayed to 2020

Fallout 76‘s new Wastelanders update which intends to finally include NPC’s to the multiplayer online game including dialogue and quest lines, has been delayed. In a recent post on its website Bethesda admits the update is quite an ambitious one and will take more time than originally thought. As a result of this, Bethesda states the update will have a “New release date” and will be pushed to Q1 of 2020.

“We’re excited about how Wastelanders is coming together but it’s going to need more time to be the best, most polished update it can be,” Bethesda states. “Wastelanders is turning out to be one of the largest expansions we’ve ever done, and it changes the entire world with human NPCs returning. We’ve continued to re-evaluate and change our processes to make sure the work we’re doing hits our quality bar, and yours. We apologize for this delay but know it will be worth the extra time.”

Bethesda further goes on to state their future plans, including changes to the Atomic Shop, an in game storefront where players can acquire cosmetics and gameplay related items for real world money. With this the studio plans “To make the system more fun and engaging for all players, we plan on reworking parts of the Challenge and reward system next year to be clearer, more fun, and more impact for all types of players,” Their exact plans on how to accomplish this is unclear, But its safe to say they would want to avoid any pay to win mechanics on the store front. At least we’d hope so.

Besides that, Bethesda also plans to implement the newly added private servers. With this requested feature, players will be able to mod their own private worlds. The ability to do so will be added in a future update but private servers arrive next week. Little quality updates should also be expected soon, including new events, perk loadouts, the new Legendary Player system, and a public test server.

So far it seems Bethesda generally intend to improve the poor state of Fallout 76. Though until the big update coming next year, We wont know the full extent of their intentions.
