Death Stranding Story Finally Known

Since being revealed in 2016, we have been left stranded (see what I did there) when it comes to information about the game. Hideo Kojima is known as a mad creative genius within the gaming world. His stories, ideas, and games are usually filled with weird, mind blowing and often WTF! moments. He loves doing things cryptically, letting the fans solve and piece together the rest.

In 2016 he introduced us to Death Stranding with its reveal trailer, and it was no surprise it left everyone confused. The other reactions were over-analyzing the meanings and metaphors of what the game ideals are about. It’s also been the pun on jokes and memes, like being called a UPS and postal worker delivery game.

As the years passed, and more and more trailers were released, we saw more of the game, its environment, and the characters. Yet the one thing we didn’t know and was still a mystery was the story. What is going on? What are we doing? Why are we doing it? How did the world end up like this? Why are there these shadowy monsters and of course, why the hell are we carrying around a baby???

Well it’s 2019 and 3 years after the game being announced, we have the general gist of the story. Of course not the in-depth full-blown details but it’s a start. Basically the world is filled with various cities that use strands to keep a connection with each other. These strands have been disconnected, for reasons not known. It’s up to the main character, Sam to travel across this vast open world game reconnecting this strands. While encountering, avoiding and fighting enemies, both human and non.

Knowing Kojima and his track record, this game and its story will be wild, weird and yet surprising. Some will like it, others will find it tedious and maybe boring. I’m looking forward to seeing how well it does in both sales and opinions.

Death Stranding will be available November 8, 2019 only on the PS4.

Multiplayer fanatic, something about playing with and against people that both entertains and frustrates me. While I mainly focus on the multiplayer side, I still appreciate a good single player story.
