Unless, your latest domicile is spectacularly subterranean and incredibly stone like it cannot have escaped your notice that there is a new Conan survival sandbox game on the horizon. Created by Funcom, the same people who brought you the MMO Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures, Conan Exiles puts you in the same world doing what you can to survive hunger, dehydration and attacks from god-knows-what to become a formidable force in the world, with your own camp and army and everything.
“You are an exile, outcast and downtrodden, sentenced to walk in a barbaric wasteland where the weak are crushed and only the strong can live. Here you must fight to survive, build, and dominate the world alone on your own server or with enemies and allies in online multiplayer.
Journey through a vast, seamless world filled with the ruins of ancient civilizations and uncover its dark history and buried secrets as you seek to conquer and dominate the exiled lands yourself. Start with nothing but your bare hands and forge the legacy of your clan, from simple tools and weapons to gigantic fortresses and entire cities. Enslave the bandits of the exiled lands to do your bidding by breaking them on the gruelling Wheel of Pain. Sacrifice the beating hearts of your enemies on the blood-soiled altars of your god to seize true power and glory. Summon the colossal avatar of your god and see them lay waste to your enemies and their homes.”
It looks like Conan Exiles is going to bring plenty of things to keep you busy. The capturing bandits and forcing them to fight for you seems pretty interesting. Not to mention the summoning of a god.
So, you obviously have the basics to worry about. As an exile you’ll have little to nothing, so you’ll need to make sure you find food, water, presumably clothing, and raw materials to build your camp, weapons and armour.
We know that there will be plenty to explore. There’s hidden ruins and treasures to find, and lots of things to discover. Will these discoveries by unique per person or one set of discoveries that everyone will make?
The largest and most interesting part is building a large and impressive camp; controlling and dominating your enemies and becoming an army in your own right. I’m definitely wondering just how large a camp you can build, and just how powerful you can become.
Another good thing, especially for those who aren’t always very fond of sharing with others, there is the option of playing Conan Exiles locally as a single player, but you can also play on a multiplayer public server or host your own multiplayer game with friends where you have complete control of the lands rules. Hoorah, feel the power!
The video trailer is very, very interesting and I am really keen to try it out, and thank fully I don’t have to wait long. Conan Exiles will be out to buy on the 31st January, and will be around $30. It will of course be a bit of a gamble buying it at this time, as it won’t be a final product and there could be many things unfinished or even broken. I’d also expect server queues or crashes on day 1.
Regardless of all that, I expect to be queuing up to get a hold of Conan Exiles on January 31st even if it’s Early Access quality. Come back for more info, after its release.
