Asterix & Obelix XXL2 Available in North America on 29th November

The freshly remastered action/adventure game Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 is set for digital release only for North America, on PS4, xBox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam, on the 29th November. With this news we’ve got hold of a few new screenshots that show off just some of the new features and the improved graphics.

Asterix & Obelix XXL 2, tells the story of the titular characters as they make their way to Las Vegum, with the faithful Dogmatix in tow. Along the way they meet a vast army of Romans, who are all foolishly trying to capture them.

Both Asterix & Obelix have unique skills and abilities, so you’re going to have to switch between the two main characters if you’re going to get to Las Vegum. Asterix is smaller and can fit through smaller gaps, while Obelix’s sheer strength helps him destroy seemingly impassable pathways.

So what else is included in the remastered version of Asterix & Obelix XXL 2?

  • The characters and environments have all been given a fresh coat of paint, with new textures and lighting.
  • Upgradable Health bar
  • An updated skill system comparable to a conventional skill tree
  • The addition of three difficulty levels (Easy, Medium and Hard)
  • Challenges are new to the Asterix & Obelix experience. Challenges are bonus missions that focus entirely on fighting, specifically trying to knock out as many romans as possible within the given time limit. Each of the six environments has two challenges, so 12 in total. Each challenge has three ranks, try and work your way up through bronze and silver to get to gold for the real rewards.
  • Collectibles are now included. Postcards are hidden through the levels, and 3d figurines can be unlocked from the shop. Don’t worry if you miss one as the new fast travel system means you can revisit earlier levels to find all those pesky collectibles.
