Since Melinoë is a witch, you would think she would be mostly inclined to use magical weapons and spells. However, while she’s efficient in both, she’s just as easily able to pick up a melee weapon and get in the middle of enemies — particularly with the Moonstone Axe.
What this weapon lacks in speed and magic, it more than makes up for in raw power, making it fairly easy to build around. In this build, we will go through how to make a powerful build that focuses the old spin-to-win tactic to wipe out rooms of enemies and bosses alike!
Playstyle & Best Aspect
This build will primarily focus around the Moonstone Axe’s Omega Attack — you will want to use this as much as possible.
Your Cast will be useful as well, as it can gather enemies, inflict Curses, and even deal extra damage depending on what Boons you end up using.
The Special won’t be needed much, unless you need to attack at ranged or you’ve given it a useful effect with Boons.
Best Aspect
The most useful Aspect for this build will be the Aspect of Thanatos.
This will speed up your Attack, with each hit of it giving you a +1% Critical Chance for your Omega Moves (until you take damage). This Critical Chance can give you a huge boost in damage!
Best Arcana Cards
The most important Arcana Cards to activate will be Death and The Huntress, to greatly boost the damage of your Attacks.
If you plan on using Casts a lot, you can take The Furies and Night to boost your damage further.
The Champions, meanwhile, can help get the Boons you want quicker.
After that, you can activate stuff like The Sorceress, The Fates, The Wayward Son, The Titan, Eternity, The Boatman, or Excellence, depending on if you want to focus more on survivability or utility.
Best God & Boons
The god you will want to focus on the most for this build is Aphrodite.
In particular, you will want to get the Flutter Strike Boon as soon as possible — it boosts your Attack damage to enemies are close, and you will always be close to them while spinning.
Here are a few other Boons that you’ll want to get from her:
Rapture Ring – will help gather enemies in a group, inflict Weak on them, as well as inflict extra damage.
Glamour Gain – gives you an easy source of Magick regen if you’re near a Weak foe (which you constantly will be in this build).
Secret Crush – adds a flat damage increase to your Attack, making your spin even stronger.
Shameless Attitude – gives you a flat damage increase, and even more if you keep your health high.
Sweet Surrender – causes all foes with Weak to take more damage.
Heart Breaker will occasionally give you extra free damage, and Broken Resolve will make enemies do even less damage to you when they have Weak. Nervous Wreck can lead to some fun effects, giving enemies random Curses whenever they’re inflicted with Weak
Best Daedalus Hammer Upgrades
The two Daedalus Hammer Upgrades that you want to shoot for are Furious Whirlwind and Concentrated Whirlwind.
Furious will allow you to charge your Omega Attack much faster, letting you use it much more, while Concentrated will cause the whirlwind to deal more damage to a target the more you hit them with it. If you get the Hammer and are unable to get either upgrade, Psychic Whirlwind is a great alternative, so that you’re free to use other moves while your Omega Attack is up.
Other Gods & Helpful Boons
Here are a few other gods you can focus on that will pair well with Aphrodite’s Boons for this build, allowing you to deal even more damage or debilitate your enemies to keep them in your whirlwinds.
Demeter – Ice Flourish, Arctic Ring, Local Climate, Gale Force, Weed Killer
Demeter will give several ways to Freeze enemies, ensuring that they can’t interrupt or escape you while using your Omega Attack.
Weed Killer will cause your spin to deal even more damage, though you may want to get some Magick increases if you’re using this and Secret Crush together.
You may also get the Duo Boon Hearty Appetite, allowing you to deal more damage the higher your health is.
If you find her early on, Rare Crop can make some of your Boons very powerful.
Hestia – Smolder Ring, Soot Sprint, Glowing Coal
While the Scorch effect won’t be very effective on your Special due to the Moonstone Axe’s lack of speed, Hestia’s Boons can turn your Casts into a great extra source of damage.
On top of that, Glowing Coal will turn it into an explosive projectile, giving you a great ranged attack when needed.
Zeus – Heaven Flourish, Storm Ring, Ionic Gain, Air Quality, Divine Vengeance, Lightning Lance, Double Strike, Electric Overload
Zeus will help give you a ton of extra damage to go with your whirlwinds in the form of thunderbolts.
Like Hestia, he could even turn your Cast into a projectile with the Lightning Lance Boon.
Since a lot of Aphrodite’s Boons are Air, you’ll be able to take advantage of his Air Quality Infusion Boon.
You could even get the Duo Boon Romantic Spark, allowing your Dashes to deal some extra damage.
Hera – Sworn Flourish, Engagement Ring, Nexus Sprint, Born Gain, Nasty Comeback, Hereditary Bane, Dying Wish
Hera will help make sure no one is safe from your attacks, even if they’re not close to you.
Hitch will help deal extra damage and spread it across enemies, and Engagement Ring makes it incredibly easy to give it to every enemy.
If you find it late into your run, Bridal Glow can give some of your Boons a huge boost for the final boss.
You can get the Duo Boon Ecstatic Obsession to have an enemy fight for you most of the time.
And here are some notable Boons for the gods that will show up randomly or will appear in every single run:
If you happen to find Artemis in your run, you can take either Pressure Points, Death Warrant, or Lethal Snare to give your Omega Attacks a chance to deal Critical damage, amplifying your damage greatly.
From Hermes, you can go for Nimble Limbs and Mean Strike to further enhance Attacks.
Any Hex you choose to bring will work, though Wolf Howl may be easier to land since you will likely be close to the enemies already.
Finally, if you decide to get a Boon or two from Chaos, one with Strike will further increase your damage.
Best Keepsakes
You will always want to start your runs with the Beautiful Mirror, so that you can ensure you get Flutter Strike and other Aphrodite Boons as soon as possible.
After the first or second boss, you can switch to the Keepsake of another god you want to pair up with. Once you’re comfortable with your Boon setup, you can use Discordant Bell to further increase your damage, or Luckier Tooth if you want a little more survivability.
This build can deal pretty high damage with a pretty simple gameplay style. Have fun spinning your way all the way to Chronos!
