Best Activities to Farm Seasonal Red-Border Weapons in Destiny 2: Into the Light

Benevolent Destiny 2 developers at Bungie are once again giving returning players an opportunity to craft all the seasonal weapons they weren’t able to earlier this year. For those who don’t know, some seasonal weapons in Destiny 2 have “red borders”. Find enough red-border weapons, and you can craft them to have the exact perks you want. This mechanic will only be available until June 4th 2024, the day that the Final Shape expansion releases. Also, during this time, every season and prior expansion is free to play!

The devs haven’t told us if these seasonal weapons are leaving for good when the expansion arrives. However, if they don’t leave the game, then they almost certainly be locked behind much more difficult activities, and they also won’t be guaranteed to drop with red borders. That’s how they get you: FOMO.

By doing just one seasonal activity, players can earn a red-border weapon. As a result of there being four sets of seasonal weapons, you can get four red-border weapons for doing four quick seasonal activities per day. The confusing thing is that there are different activities to earn these weapons, and some are faster than others. Let’s go over the best activities to do for each season — “best” meaning the easiest and fastest to complete every day before June 4th.

  • Recommended Activity – Defiant Battlegrounds
  • Location – H.E.L.M
  • Difficulty – Easy

If you never played this season at the beginning of last year, then you will have to do a few quests to get started. You can start by heading to the H.E.L.M (image 1), which is where all the seasonal activities are, and walking up to the War Table (Image 2-3). Here, you’ll receive the Ascendant Scepter, which allows you to participate in the season of defiance’s activities. You’ll have to do a couple quest steps, then do the first mission on Neomuna, and then you’ll unlock Defiant Battlegrounds.

Defiant Battlegrounds is definitely the fastest activity for this season’s red-border weapons, and can be found in the H.E.L.M (image 4). The other potential activities that take longer are the exotic quest, Avalon, and the legend version of defiant battlegrounds, but we don’t recommend those for brevity’s sake. If you’re starting from scratch, the red border weapons you receive for this season are great, and could arguably be the best ones to farm for if you’re short on time.

  • Recommended Activity – Salvage
  • Location – H.E.L.M
  • Difficulty – Easy

The most expedient activity to do for your daily season of the deep red-border weapon is salvage (image 5). It’s quick and painless, and shouldn’t be too difficult to complete within twelve minutes. The weapons from this season are alright, but their main lure is their aesthetic — they look awesome (image 6).

Like with all of these seasonal activities, if you haven’t played them at all, then you have to do a couple quest steps introducing you to the activities and story. Season of the deep is started by doing the Descent mission at the H.E.L.M.

  • Recommended ActivitySavathûn’s Spire
  • Location – H.E.L.M
  • Difficulty – Easy

The third seasonal activity is for the Season of the Witch. For those players that never played it, you will have to do the starting mission, Way of the Witch, which will be in the bottom left at the H.E.L.M. After completing those quests, you will have access to Savathûn’s Spire, which is the faster and better daily activity for farming red-borders (Image 7). This arsenal is probably better for those players wanting PVE (player vs. everyone) type weapons for doing campaign, dungeons, raids, strikes, etc.

  • Recommended ActivityRiven’s Lair
  • Location – H.E.L.M
  • Difficulty – Easy

The way to start this season’s quest line actually isn’t in the H.E.L.M, but instead requires players to head over to the Dreaming City (image 8) to do the mission, Final Wish. After doing that and some other steps, you’ll have access to Riven’s Lair in the H.E.L.M (image 9), the fastest activity for obtaining a daily season of the wish red-border weapon. This season’s weapons are very good, and there are standout options for both PVP (player vs. Player) and PVE. If there are only a couple activities that you have time to do, then this should probably be one of them.
