Throughout your journey in Dragon Age: The Veilguard you probably encountered many Valuables by looting fallen enemies or unlocking chests and wondered what is so valuable about those items. Veilguard features many items with the Valuable Item tag that can be found in the Open World and by interacting with the many merchants in the game. Most of those items are merely intended to be sold for gold but some have special effects that consume the item after you acquire it.
This guide will briefly explain the Valuables mechanic and offer a short introduction to Valuable Items you can encounter, in both the Open World and Merchant Shops!
Valuables & Valuable Items
From the moment you take the first steps into Arlathan Forest, the first section of the game after the tutorial arc, you will be able to find plenty of items and chests hidden around the world. As you progress through the game and face the many adventures that await you, your inventory will consistently fill with Valuables gathered from all kinds of missions and exploration.
Those Valuables can be viewed by going over to Resources, in the Character Section of the in-game menu. There, you will be able to see all the Valuables you have collected so far. Most Valuables in the game serve no other purpose than to be sold for gold, but some have special effects such as increasing stats, functioning as gifts for companions, or even improving your standing with the Caretaker.
To turn those Valuables into profit, you have to head over to one of the main Faction Merchants in the game and select “Sell Valuables“.
Types of Valuable Items
As mentioned before, players can discover several types of Valuables in Veilguard. The main ones are Gifts, Mementos, and Valuable Items.
Gifts
Gifts are a special category of Valuables that serve the purpose of increasing your reputation with your companions. Each Gift is specifically tied to a single companion and can’t be offered to any other companion than its designated target.
Mementos
Mementos are primarily used to increase the level of the Caretaker’s services in the Lighthouse hub. Those mementos can be found in the Open World or bought from merchants.
Valuable Item
The items with the Valuable Item tag have the most variety by far when compared to the other two categories.
Types of Valuable Items:
Common Valuable Item
Uncommon Valuable Item
Rare Valuable Item
Epic Valuable Item
Legendary Valuable Item
Most of those items only serve the purpose of being sold for Currency, yet some among them, Rare Valuable Items in particular have been seen to give permanent stat boosts for Rook.
So far, Rare Valuable Items have been found only by browsing merchant’s inventories. However, as time goes by and much more is unraveled, players may yet find those items in the Open World as well. We will update the article when we find a proof of that ourselves.
Hopefully, this guide provides you with all the necessary information regarding Valuables and Valuable Items. Let us know in the section below if there is anything else we can add to this guide!
