What is Mana? – Dragon Age: The Veilguard

In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, each of the three classes: Mage, Warrior, and Rogue use different resources to activate their Abilities and channel their Skills! For Mages, that resource is Mana, which passively regenerates both in and outside combat.

This guide will offer details on Mana as a resource and offer ways to improve your Mana Regeneration, as well as how certain Traits, Passives, and Items can influence it!

As you would expect, Mages use Mana to cast and channel their devastating spells. In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the Mage class uses Mana as its unique class resource, using it for casting Abilities, charging Staff Energy, channeling Ranged Beam Attacks, and even Defending against attacks.

Mana is represented by a blue Resource Bar at the bottom of your screen. Initially, you only start with 100 Mana, represented by the 2 orbs (dragon age the veilguard mage mana) on your Mana Bar. (Each dragon age the veilguard mage mana represents a total of 50 Mana). Luckily, you won’t be stuck with just 100 Mana throughout your journey, as you will gain Passive Skills and Items that can increase your total Mana Pool.

In addition, as mentioned before, Mana is used to charge your Staff Energy, Defend against attacks, and power your Ranged Attacks.

There is only one passive effect, Block Mastery, that influences your Staff Defend, but there are multiple effects that boost Ranged Attacks, such as Death Surge, Invigorating Beam, Eclectic Armorer, Concentration, and Mortal Concentration. Finally, Staff Energy can be upgraded by Controlled Infusion, Staff Mastery, and Light Armor Mastery.

Mana is passively generated both in and outside combat. This makes the Mage‘s resource unique among the classes the game, since all other classes have to either hit their foes, dodge & defend against them, or be directly hit by them to generate their resources. Mage is the only class that can generate its resource both passively and proactively (since some skills and items generate it upon successful hits).

Passive Skills Skills in the game allow Mage to improve their Mana Regeneration, along with some Enchantments and a plethora of Equipment that serve the same purpose.

Besides passive regeneration, Mages can also get skills like Inner Focus to regenerate it while hitting enemies, or kill them while having Reclamation skill active.

It’s important to know that there is a difference between Mana Generation and Regeneration in game’s tooltips. Generation is gaining Mana from attacks or performing certain actions, while Regenation is the Mana you gain passively over time. Generation will give you Mana much quicker if you trigger it consistently, but Regeneration will give you a consistent flow of it at all times.

Mana Generation and Mana Regeneration are two different things, can you make a guide on what’s better if one were to use the skill Channeled Thoughts?

I manage to get 500 total mana pool, but i can only cast 3 fireballs(cost 100 mana each) before i need to recharge. Anyone else notice this? Is there a cap at 300? It’s kinda stupid when you can get so much more.
