Harding’s Titan Choice – Dragon Age: The Veilguard

On Harding‘s second venture into the Deep Roads as part of her “The Heart of the Titan” quest, Rook will have a chance to convince Harding to either remember who she is — a compassionate, driven protector — or to Honor the Titan’s Anger in order to channel that rage into vengeance and power.

Whichever you choose will influence Harding, with each choice granting a different Veilguard Skill and Legendary Armor at the end of her questline, as well as altering the course of her story going forward. In this guide, we will go over when you will make this choice, and what happens when you do.

The choice will appear towards the end of the quest The Heart of the Titan, which is the final full quest in Harding‘s storyline. After you defeat the Wrath of the Stone boss at the end of the Deep Roads, you will be taken into a cutscene. During this, Harding will be partially controlled by the Heart of the Titan, and you will need to tell her something to help her regain control: either you can tell her to “Remember Who You Are,” or you can convince her to “Honor the Titan’s Anger.”

After you make it through the rest of the cutscene, the quest will conclude and Harding will become a Hero of the Veilguard. Depending on what you told her in the Deep Roads, she will obtain one of two different Legendary Armors and Veilguard Skills, to reflect the different outlooks.

Once you make your choice, Harding will gain a Veilguard Skill and a legendary armor specifically for her. Your choice will also reward Harding with a Skill and piece of legendary armor, depending on what you said in the Deep Roads:

Reminding Harding to be true to herself and not let her compassion go will cause Harding to receive the Inquisition Spotter legendary armor and the Heart of the Titan Veilguard Skill, both immediately after completing “The Heart of the Titan.”

The Inquisition Spotter legendary armor is almost certainly the weakest in the game, simply due to the fact that Detonations already frequently disrupt enemies, and always slow them down.

On the other side of things, Harding‘s Heart of the Titan Veilguard Skill is very good. Not only does it enable her to use Soothing Potion more (which is extremely useful as a heal-over-time ability), but it also drastically improves Detonations, and lets you capitalize off of them more.

If you make this decision, then Harding will be an overall kinder person, and will have a vastly different epilogue quest than the alternative.

Convincing Harding to give into the Titan’s Anger will cause Harding to receive the Titan’s Vengeance legendary armor and the The Stone’s Vengeance Veilguard Skill, both immediately after completing “The Heart of the Titan.”

The Titan’s Vengeance legendary armor is very powerful, especially for builds that already use Bleeding, as it both adds stacks of Bleeding, and inflicts resistance-neutral Physical damage to any enemies who already are bleeding.

Harding‘s Veilguard Skill, The Stone’s Vengeance, is useful in combination with the above armor, as it essentially ensures that some enemies will get bonus damage from detonations every time. That said, the Titan Stones themselves are not very effective at dealing damage, even with the increase and Bleeding.

If you make this decision, then Harding will be a more righteous, meaner person, and will have a vastly different epilogue quest than the alternative.

Regardless of what choice you make, you will put Harding‘s strong personality to good use following her questline. But, there are other choices to be made, so feel free to check out our other guides on Companion choices when it is time for them.
