Guns for Hire in Far Cry 5 are NPC companions that fight along side of you. They provide many benefits and can be utilized in different ways such as stealth attacks or pinpointing enemy locations.
Here is a list of all available specialist companions including guns for hire and fangs for hire:
- Boomer – Scout
- Nick Rye – Pilot
- Grace Armstrong – Sniper
- Cheeseburger – Heavy
- Hurk Drubman Jr – RPG
- Jess Black – Hunter
- Peaches – Stealth
- Sharky Boshaw – Heavy Flamer
- Adelaide Drubman – Pilot
Each companion has two abilities available to them as listed below. The abilities are related to their specialty, so the companion you decide to use will generally be influenced by your current play style (e.g. stealthy with a compound bow vs Leeroy Jenkins with an attack helicopter).
Will tag all enemies nearby.
Will sometimes fetch a weapon after an attack.
You want a bomb? He’ll drop it.
Light ’em Up:
You want a strafing run? Look out.
Her sniper shots will scare enemies.
Her laser sight is easier to distinguish.
Will exercise his right to attack.
Cross to Bear:
Will draw focus during combat.
Hurk Drubman Jr
RPGs will track air and land vehicles.
RPGs on vehicles are more destructive.
Enemies will have a harder time detecting her.
Wild animals see her as one of their own.
Will silently takedown and enemy.
Will stay hidden when moving through tall grass.
Fire It Up:
Attacks will have an extra spark to it.
Resistant to most explosions and impacts.
Call a Chopper:
Will provide air support and deliver a helicopter.
Gun + Big Magazine = More Shooting.
In addition to the specialist guns for hire listed above there are also non-specialists that you can hire that are located all around Hope County. These are generally resistance fighters that don’t have any specialty and have two abilities available to them from a list.
Once you hire them they are assigned in your Roster below the specialists as an option for you to select.
Abilities for non-specialist companions are locked at the beginning and will unlock as they get more kills. The first ability will unlock after 5 kills and the second ability will unlock after 12 kills.
Will revive themselves when downed.
Will fully revive your health when downed.
Will draw attention and take more damage.
Will grab plant life when not in combat.
Will allow you to carry more ammo.
Shotgun blasts might start a fire.
Will lay down fire that scares the enemy.
Will repair the vehicle you drive.
Will make you untrackable in tall grass.
Melee attacks might send enemies flying.
Will take less time to recover health.
Will hand over recovered ammo after some kills.
Will snipe less often but be deadlier.
Will tag enemies at the start of combat.
Will be more resilient to damage.
Will revive fangs for hire.
Will find extra stuff when looting a body.
